While this book was entertaining for an adult, it was a little confusing for my niece. She says that she really liked all of the instruments in this book, but the resolution to the mystery was confusing and over her head.The story was well written and well told, and from the adult point of view it was a clever tongue-in-cheek mystery tale. It was also pretty fun to read out loud. The illustrations were simple, but fun, too. I'd like to give this one three stars, but for a children's book, the reveal was just a little too clever and not quite literal enough for a child. Or at least not literal enough for my practical, literally minded niece.
