Ok, I'm not saying that I believe in communism. I think that it has been clearly shown time and time again that it doesn't work. That said, this book by the founders of communist thought outlines what communism was orignially envisioned to be. It is a fascinating study in the light of history and politics of ideal vs. practice. Anyone who claims to be anti-communist or pro-communist ought to read this book in order to understand what it *actually* is they are claiming to be for or against. Communism as practiced by Stalin, Mao, Castro, Ho Chi Minh, and Kim Jong-il is not the communism outlined by Marx and Engles. The idea of communism was taken by these leaders and perverted into totalitarianism and fascism. This is a fascinating read that provides valuable insight into one of the world's most controversial forms of political thought and practice.
