The kids and I both enjoyed this story about a rooster that didn't recognize the good life he had until he didn't have it any longer. The pictures in this book seemed to have a little bit of a muddy palette--both kids had some problems making out what was going on in the pictures. At one point my niece wanted to know why Gonzalo ate candy as his primary food in his good life (he did not escape the consequences of this dietary choice), and my nephew straightened her out. "Well," he said, "candy is a delicious food." Fun, funny book that suggests to kids that maybe we already have what we seek.
