World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War

World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War - Max Brooks I listened to World War Z on audiobook, and boy, was that the ideal format for a book like this. Many different actors participated in this audiobook, including Alan Alda, Rob Reiner, and John Turturro (who, incidentally, played in my all time favorite movie, O, Brother Where Art Thou?). So, with actors like these participating, the voice acting for this work was absolutely stellar.

I was attracted to World War Z in terms of its subject matter, and I thought the story was told in an interesting and original way. What turned me off about the book, though, was the coarse, foul language that ran through it. I get that this was supposed to be a war story, and I imagine that in a war no one is exactly saying, "Oh, pardon my French." That said, the quantity of that kind of language in this book, while probably realistic, was just a bit too much for me to rate this any higher than three stars. World War Z is a good book, though, and those who like war stories, zombie stories, or war stories starring zombies will be sure to find something to like here.
