Flotsam is one of my niece's all time favorite books. She used to pull this out all the time as her bedtime story, and that's great. I'm glad she likes it. I am on the opposite end of the scale, though. Flotsam has never grabbed me, it's never seemed like a wonderful book to me--frankly, I've always found it to be kind of lackluster (I like Tuesday much
better). To be fair, there is something special about Flotsam--I just can't figure out what it is. Of course, Flotsam was written for children, and I know that my niece would give this a solid five stars. I'll weight her opinion heavily here, but I can only give Flotsam four stars because my reaction to it is so very unenthusiastic (as in, if I didn't take her opinion into account, this would get two stars, maybe even one from me).
