Balloons over Broadway has been on and off of my "to read" shelf about ten times. It keeps popping (no pun intended) up as a recommendation to me, it has made my
Best non-fiction picture books list, and it's averaged 4.16 stars as of this review. So of course, I've added this book to my "to read" shelf. But, it's about the Macy's Parade, which takes place in New York, and my niece and nephew have never seen that parade. I just couldn't imagine why they'd be interested in this book, so off my "to read" shelf it came.
Well, the other day my niece pulled this off the shelf at the library, and we (finally) checked it out. It was quite interesting, very accessible to the children, and it had cool pictures and great end matter. The kids really enjoyed this book, and frankly, so did I. It was a fun, entertaining, and educational read. I'm glad we finally read this, and I'm happy to add it to my "read" shelf!
