A Tale Dark & Grimm - Adam Gidwitz I really thought that A Tale Dark and Grimm was a beautifully written book. It was creative, it was well constructed, and I loved following Hansel and Gretel through the darkness in which they were forged.

There was so much symbolism, so many themes and messages going on in this book, and the exploration into what "dark" means, what it is, and how it affects us was wonderfully well done. I think that this is a book that everyone can relate to on some level, and I think more layers could be peeled back with multiple re-readings. This was a creative, and surprisingly moving and thought-provoking story in the guise of a fairy tale. Oh, and as the author warns, not for little kids, despite where you might find it on your library shelves.
