I really enjoyed Deadly Currents. The author has done an excellent job of recreating the setting of the Salida and Buena Vista, Colorado areas, and that made me better able to relate to the story, I think.
I found the book very hard to put down. There was a lot of action, the characters were all well developed (even the dog's personality was well drawn), and the best part, I had no idea "whodunit" until the end of the book (a *big* plus in a mystery book for me)! I am eagerly awaiting the next book in this series!
The only drawback for me was, as another reviewer mentioned, Mandy's attitude toward her brother and her boyfriend. I understand that Mandy is an independent, strong woman, but in many places this strength and indpendence came off more as bratty and spoiled when the people who cared most about her were only trying to help her. I am hoping that as the series progresses she grows to realize that accepting help does not mean one is losing independence, and that in fact, accepting help often makes us stronger and even more of a force to be reckoned with.
