Despite my niece's adoration of all things Chinese, I don't think that she adored this book. It seemed that it was more of a challenge for her to understand than some of the other books that we've read from
this series--there were ideas and concepts that were difficult for her to comprehend, and the vocabulary used was often above her level. These are all fine things--I believe in challenging a child to stretch themselves, and she did a great job of asking questions in order to gain understanding. In the end, though, I just think she is maybe a bit too young to really grasp what this book was trying to teach.
