The illustrations in this book are just lovely, but I'm not sure that my niece fully understood the moral of this tale. In fact, I know she didn't, because I asked her what it was, and she couldn't quite tell me. I think that the story was either too long, so her attention span didn't go the distance, or the pictures were so pretty she was distracted from the words. Honestly, I'm thinking that her attention span didn't hold up to the challenge.
Still, this is a very pretty storybook with a good moral, regardless of the reader's faith. Best not read to tired children, or to ones who are hyped up on sugar.
