Not a bad book. It was entertaining, although I was a little confused at to the motivation of "the bad guys." There is a lot of room for character development and growth, which could lead to lots of interesting stories as the series progresses.
The Hunchback Assignments obviously pays homage to stories like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, The Island of Dr. Moreau, and maybe also a bit to Frankenstein, but there is a goodly amount of steampunk thrown in. I will probably read the next book when I'm in the mood for something action-y that doesn't require too much exertion on my part, but I'm not likely to rush out to find the next book in the series.
