I read The Hobbit many years ago when I was still a teenager, and it is one of my favorite stories. I did enjoy this radio adaptation, but The Hobbit is just one of those books best read, I think. The radio players doing this adaptation were good--there is nothing to complain about, really, but I still feel like I was missing something. When I read The Hobbit, it really felt like an adventure that I was going through with little Bilbo Baggins. This, though, felt more like hitting the high points. Since I have been absolutely unable to get thorough the books in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, though, listening to the radio adaptations of those stories might be the way to go for me.
